Boiler Maintenance Tips
Below are just some of the boiler maintenance tips that you can consider when looking after your boiler. If you want to find out more about how we can help here at Boiler On The Blink, have a look at our Services page.
Power Flushing
The first boiler maintenance tip we want to mention is power flushing. If you're not sure what power flushing is, it is a service offered by heating engineers to remove the sludge, rust and other debris that has built up in the central heating system. Power flushing has long-term results and can improve the efficiency of your central heating system.
Lag The Pipes
During the colder months of the year, the temperatures are capable of dropping below zero and the boiler's external condensate pipe can freeze; causing the boiler to cut out as a safety precaution. You can prevent this however and there's are a couple of ways, such as pouring warm water over the pipe to melt the ice; by insulating the pipe or by simply keeping your heating on low constantly to prevent it.
Annual Servicing
Annual servicing of your boiler is another great way to ensure everything is running smoothly and efficiently. By receiving annual servicing on your boiler and problems can be resolved before they become expensive repair jobs or cause further damage to your boiler. Here at Boiler On The Blink, we also offer boiler servicing across Ashford and the surrounding areas. Find out more over on our service page for boiler servicing
Switch Your Boiler Off
Another great boiler maintenance tip is to simply switch your boiler off. Simply put, once the weather picks up and the sun comes out, we tend not to switch our boiler on as the weather is hot enough. If you have a combinational boiler, you just have to turn off the heating and keep the hot water on. However, to prevent any future problems with your boiler once the weather turns cold and the temperature drops, you should consider turning your boiler on for around 15 Minutes per month during the summer.
Bleeding The Radiators
Finally, you could even consider bleeding the radiators throughout your home to attempt to improve the efficiency of your central heating system. Bleeding the radiators is another great way to ensure the radiators are running efficiently.
